Platinum
Created in the year 1919 by Shunichi Nakata as a small establishment providing fountain pens located in Okayama City, the company "Platinum Fountain Pen Co.", so-called since 1928, is currently one of the three largest Japanese companies in the sector of writing instruments.
This spectacular expansion, which has led to the launch of numerous factories and branches in various parts of the world has not caused, however, a major obstacle to the conservation of its original spirit, a family business - after the death of their predecessors, the reins of the business are today taken by Toshiya Nakata, grandson of the founder – who continues to work with the same love and zeal in the manufacture of each and every one of their products and who has known how to combine to perfection the survival of the traditional Japanese handicraft and its formal delicacy with a constant search for technological innovation and experimentation with new materials, a judicious combination of classicism and modernity that has reached the privileged place it now occupies.
Precious metals, noble woods, celluloid, urushi lacquer or even leather, are some of the raw materials used with great taste in their different collections, among which we might emphasize the imposing Metal Body, the refined collection Izumo, the colourful Celluloid, the legendary #3776 or the exclusive Urushi Makie, all of these intstruments characterized by their extremely high performance and a refined aesthetic that has turned the Platinum fountain pens into works highly valued by collectors experts.
