Graf von Faber-Castell

In 1761, the craftman Kaspar Faber created in the German town of Stein, a small village located in the Ansbach marquisate, in the vicinity of the imperial city of Nuremberg, the seed of what would eventually become one of the world's largest producers of writing instruments: the Faber-Castell brand.

Dedicated in its origins to the manufacture of pencils, Faber's business would flourish over time, passing from generation to generation of this family clan and expanding its goals from the humble initial workshop to the great company that it is today. First, with the purchase of land by Kaspar's son, Anton Wilhelm, on which he would build a factory whose facilities are still the company's headquarters. Later, with the modernization of the plant, the adoption of the name ”A. W. Faber” for the brand and the internationalization of its production at the hands of Lothar, great-grandson of the founder. Already at the beginning of the 20th century, under the direction of Count Alexander zu Castell-Rüdenhausen, husband of Ottilie von Faber, Lothar's granddaughter, his famous logo of the jousting knights would be implemented and the brand would change its name to the current A. W. Faber- Castell. In 1950 it began its production of fountain pens after the purchase of the Osmia company, further diversifying a production that had already incorporated in previous years the manufacture of colored pencils, mechanical pencils, ballpoint pens, and even pencil cases. Finally, in 1993 the corporation was restructured which, among many other things, led to the launch of the Graf von Faber-Castell line, a series of high-end writing instruments independent from the main matrix.

Precious resin, noble woods such as ebony, granadillo or pernambuco, from slow-growing trees with ecological certification that translate into sustainable development and a raw material characterized by its great density, its hardness and its resistance, and precious metals such as gold, silver or platinum, typical of the most luxurious goldsmithing, are used profusely in the making of Graf von Faber-Castell fountain pens, a fabulous repertoire of pieces by high quality whose timeless design tries to collect the best of the past and combine it with the use of the most innovative technology giving rise to extremely beautiful and efficient tools that are grouped currently in limited edition, special editions fountain pens and the regular edition collections Classic, Classic Anello, Guilloche, Intuition, and Tamitio. A new milestone in the history of a legendary brand with more than 250 years of existence that promises to continue achieving success and perpetuating the prestige of a leading company worldwide.
