Toledo

The collection of fountain pens Toledo by Pelikan was introduced in the year 1931 with the launch of its already famous model 111T, exceedingly novel by the introduction of the millennial technical craft of the damascene work in the development of fountain pens. It is characterized by the creation of ornamental motifs through a process consisting in the embedding, with precise blows of a hammer, wires or thin sheets of gold in a body of iron or steel that is then heated to high temperatures, causing oxidation and blackening of the steel and the highlight of the details in gold. One of the great centres of this craft production, since its introduction in Spain by the Arabs until the present, is located in Toledo, a city that has inspired and given name to the line of fountain pens that concerns us. It belongs to Pelikan’s premium range and it is distinguished from others by its elaboration by hand and its artistic decorative strip in solid sterling silver - Gold Plated 24 k. In the case of the Toledo M700 and M900- that decorates its different models with the ubiquitous motif of the pelican evoking the artisan process mentioned above. In addition, the use of precious materials as the 18-carat gold in the nib and the clip, or the high quality resin used in the elaboration of bodies and caps, make this collection a masterpiece.
