Souverän

The launch in the market in the year 1950 of the fountain pen model 400 constitutes an authentic milestone in the centuries-old history of the brand Pelikan. Born having to cope with the fierce competition of the moment, the German company, which compared to the usual Teutonic sobriety, was already known for the introduction of models famous for their certainly striking chromaticity. The company wanted to delve into this concept with a pen that, among other factors, was distinguished by its original body covered with fine green stripes.

Its unusual aesthetic, reason that will later end up giving its popular nickname "Stresemann" because of its similarity with the striped suits worn by the chancellor of the Weimar Republic Gustav Stresemann, rapidly grew in the public providing a resounding success that converted it in probably the most well know pen of the signature and an inevitable source of inspiration for models and later versions.

In the decade of the 80s Pelikan decides to rescue this classic with the collection Souverän, which, respecting its essential forms and characteristic image, has been expanding its offer in successive years with the introduction of new colours, materials and finishes.

A tribute and an incomparable way of keeping the memory of a mythical writing instrument alive.
