Elmo
The Elmo collection is Montegrappa's particular tribute to its origins as a manufacturer of fountain pens and to one of the most important characters in its more than 100 years of history: Heinrich Helm.
After its birth, in 1912, under the name “Manifattura Pennini d'oro per Stilographiche The Elmo Pen”, Montegrappa would place Helm, in these first years of its existence, as technical director of the brand, a position that, in practice, would make him the first designer of fountain pens in Italy and a true pioneer who would have the vision of bringing handwriting closer to the different social strata through the invention of a fountain pen characterized by its simplicity, its reliability and, above all, due to its low cost.
A century later, Montegrappa recovers its spirit, and captures it in a collection that stands out for its vintage design, inspired by the 20s of the last century and the simple and functional forms of the German Bauhaus, although it is true that adapting it to current needs and providing it with the technical advances in force today.
The result is a diverse set of fountain pens that maintains some hallmarks in common, but that has been diversified into different lines such as the Elmo 01, the most classic and timeless, the Elmo Ambiente, which marked Montegrappa's first foray into the world of recycling and the circular economy, or the Elmo 02, which in its “Plus” version introduces for the first time in this series a new integrated piston loading mechanism called “Piston Plus”.
