Black resin body and cap with a glossy finish, an original clip with a bowed profile with a palladium finish and different polished steel decorative elements make up the cover letter of the Montegrappa Elmo 02 Plus Night fountain pen, one of the three models or finishes with which the new Elmo 02 Plus series starts, a variant of the Elmo fountain pen line that preserves intact the distinctive features of this collection and is basically distinguished by the introduction of a new integrated piston loading system named after the responsible for the brand as "Piston Plus".

The Elmo collection is a tribute by Montegrappa to its origins and to the figure of Heinrich Helm, technical director of Montegrappa in its initial years and, probably, the first fountain pen designer in Italy. His visionary mind was responsible for the design of a fountain pen that, thanks to its simplicity, reliability and low cost, would extend the use of the fountain pens to all social classes in Italy, leading to unprecedented success for this famous company based in the town of Bassano del Grappa.

The Montegrappa Elmo fountain pens aim to pay tribute to a character of such importance to the brand through their vintage design, inspired by the forms in force in the 1920s and indebted, to a large extent, to the aesthetic postulates advocated by the German Bauhaus. This stands out, among other aspects, for its conical ends, for the introduction of soft and elegant curves and for the concave profile of its grip section, which stands out for its ergonomics and results in more comfortable and restful writing.

As already noted, the Elmo 02 Plus line fountain pens are distinguished from the other models in the Elmo collection by the introduction of a new integrated piston loading mechanism known as "Piston Plus". This system stands out for its easy operation through the knob located on the barrel of the fountain pen, for the inclusion of a transparent window between the body and the grip section that allows control of the ink level and, above all, for its Large loading capacity, reaching 1.5 ml. thanks to the absence of a specific tank to house the ink and the use as such of its body, duly sealed with hermetic joints to prevent leaks.

Regarding their nib, the Elmo 02 Plus fountain pens offer a huge variety of possibilities in terms of materials and strokes. In terms of material, we find nibs made of stainless steel or 14K solid gold. The first of these is available in extra fine (EF), fine (F), medium (M), broad (B), and Stub 1.1 and Stub 1.5 thicknesses, while the 14K gold is offered in Extra Fine (EF), Fine (F), Medium (M), Broad (B) and Stub 1.1 points. A third option would be the flexible nib, which is made with 14K gold, has recesses on the shoulders to increase its flexibility and is available to the public in extra fine (EF) and fine (F) thicknesses.
