Aurora Leonardo da Vinci 940
A sublime work of art whose contemplation is a true delight and will leave the most demanding of fans speechless.
The prestigious writing pen brand Aurora dedicates its most exclusive creation to the greatest genius of all time: Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519).
Archetype of the Renaissance man versed in a multitude of disciplines, his enormous intellectual restlessness led him to delve into infinite branches of knowledge such as anatomy, botany, engineering, architecture, urban planning, painting, sculpture, philosophy, music or poetry, among others, showing in all of them an extraordinary clairvoyance that allowed him to explore new paths until then unheard of and propose tremendously advanced solutions for his time, which, almost 500 years after his death, continue to surprise us for their precocity. and his audacity.
With these previous conditions, it is evident that designing an object that pays tribute to such an excellent character and lives up to his greatness is not an easy task, but no one can argue that the Italian company has overcome this complicated challenge with its Aurora Leonardo fountain pen da Vinci 940. An exceptional limited and numbered edition piece produced only upon request and with a circulation restricted to only 99 copies made with precious materials and such an exquisite design that we find ourselves, without a doubt, in front of an authentic work of goldsmithing.
Its body and cap are made of solid 18-carat gold and completely covered with an impressive engraved ornamentation that reproduces with absolute fidelity various fragments of the “Codex of the Flight of Birds”, a manuscript written between March and April 1505 by the brilliant polymath Florentine, and in which, as the name itself indicates, he meticulously studies the evolutions in the air of the different birds, the mechanisms that enable their ability to take flight and their potential translation to the human being through mechanical devices due to their enormous inventive capacity. This wonderful example of human creativity is curiously preserved today, after multiple vicissitudes, in the Royal Library of Turin, cradle of the company and the city where its headquarters continue to be located since 1919.
From the same source of inspiration draw their original articulated clip, a beautiful gold jewel set with rubies designed by the famous jewelery designer Giampiero Bodino based on Leonardesque flying machines, and their extraordinary nib, also made of solid 18-carat gold imitating the shape of a bird feather.
Its refined high-quality resin section is turned and polished completely by hand and has a curious piston loading system with an internal lever hidden in the culote (the photograph corresponds to model 939).
It is presented in a magnificent noble wood box worthy of this unrivaled contribution to the world of writing pens, a piece that is desired by ordinary mortals that only a privileged few will be able to treasure among their most precious possessions.
