Aurora Leonardo da Vinci 938
The famous Italian company Aurora pays a well-deserved tribute to one of the most brilliant minds in the history of humanity with its Leonardo da Vinci 938 fountain pen, a spectacular limited and numbered edition writing pen dedicated to the multifaceted Florentine genius of the Renaissance.
Painting, sculpture, architecture, urban planning, philosophy, engineering, botany, anatomy... were some of the many disciplines addressed by this man of extraordinary intellectual restlessness and overflowing imagination who, almost 500 years after his death, continues to impress us with his enormous talent and a prodigious inventive capacity that led him to devise tremendously advanced devices for his time.
A good example of this are his world-famous studies on the anatomy of birds, aimed at unraveling the secrets that give these animals the power to fly, and the artifacts designed to provide humans with that ability, which have survived to this day. in works such as his famous “Codex of the Flight of Birds”, an imposing manuscript written between March and April 1505 that constitutes the true leitmotiv of this pen and is preserved in the Royal Library of Turin, the city where he was born, in 1919, to the Aurora brand, and which continues to house its headquarters almost a century later.
Thus, the elegant cap of this magnificent work is plated in 18-karat gold and completely covered with a beautiful engraved decoration that reproduces with absolute fidelity some fragments of the aforementioned codex, with the characteristic Leonardesque writing from right to left and several of his most famous drawings.
Special mention deserves its beautiful clip, a refined device conceived by the famous jewelry designer Giampiero Bodino, equipped with an original rotating mechanism and a delicate curved silhouette directly inspired by the flying machines of the brilliant Renaissance inventor.
The body is made of high-quality burgundy resin and hides, in the culote area, an original lever system for loading the ink tank (the picture corresponds to model 939).
Finally, we cannot fail to highlight its wonderful nib, made of solid 18-karat gold, attached to the body with a thin section of black resin turned and polished by hand and with an attractive design of stylized and undulating lines reminiscent of the feathers of a bird
It is available in a large number of thicknesses —EF, F, M, B and BB— and rare points such as italic, stub or oblique for left and right-handed people (check availability and possible additional costs).
The production of this exclusive jewel of writing is restricted to 1919 copies which, in a final example of elegance and refinement, are presented in an exquisite box made of noble wood.
